Meridian Police Department issue a Scam Alert.

Meridian, MS - The Meridian Police Department has issued a warning to the community about a scam.

According to Detective Chanetta Stevens, someone is pretending to be law enforcement, and demanding people to meet them at an unsafe location. Detective Stevens said Meridian Police will never contact anyone demanding to come to a location or make harmful threats to anyone’s family.

The community is encouraged to not give out any information or go to the location.

Meridian police says to hang up the phone if anyone is unsure how to handle the situation, and to contact the Meridian police department at 601-485-1893.
