The Meridian Police Department collected nearly 400 pounds of unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications at its biannual National Drug Take Back Initiative Event over the weekend.

The Drug Enforcement Administration picked up the drugs that were disposed of early today at the Meridian Police Department, and from there they took the medications to be destroyed. In addition to the medications collected at the National Drug Take Back Initiative, 263 pounds of medication was disposed of in the medication drop box stationed at MPD’S headquarters. This entire recent collection of disposed medication exceeded last year's collection by approximately 450 pounds.
