The Meridian Police Department is investigating after a shooting took place on New Year’s Eve at Uptown Meridian Mall.
The shooting took place in the mall parking lot near around 5pm, where authorities say a group of individuals began fighting inside of the mall, and the fight was moved to the parking lot when both parties exchanged gunfire. According to investigators, the shooting incident stemmed from an altercation between the suspects that took place on Christmas. This is an ongoing investigation, and Meridian Police Department has not yet released the names of the suspects.
“That incident at Christmas led to what happened yesterday, where they continued the fight and the fight led to one exchange of gunfire out in the mall parking lot. It was 6 to 8 individuals that were involved in the incident where there was property damage, and thankfully nobody got shot, --there was no gunshot victim or anything like that,” said Sgt. Rochester Anderson.

Investigators are asking that if anyone has information regarding this shooting incident, to contact the Meridian Police Department.
