A LOCAL ARTIST FROM MERIDIAN HAS QUITE A COLLECTION OF SOCKS.... AND IT'S ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE. TWIN STATES NEWS DANNY TODD SPEAKS WITH HIM ON WHY HE SPENT THE PAST MONTH COLLECTING THEM.

Thousands of people come together to help others during the holiday season. Meridian resident Zack Ball does just that in a unique way. He created "Footsteps" Sock Drive to help shine a spotlight on the elderly in our community and to pay homage to those that have helped pave the way for us.

ZACH B- EVENT ORGANIZER tells Twin States News "Some families don't visit their loved one in nursing homes, so I want to be a cause of that and give back to those residents this Sunday, along with a team behind me and a great support system."

Zach B is known to many in the Meridian area for his R&B and gospel music. He's grateful for the amount of love the community has shown by donating socks and for making the drive a huge success. He was nervous about doing this at first, but he stepped out in faith and looks forward to the impact and smiles that will come because of the donations.

JANET SIMS is the choir/piano instructor at Magnolia Middle School. She and her students will be participating in the event and says "I am so proud that Zach has decided to follow his heart and give back to the elderly. at Queen City Nursing home. I wish that so many more people could have the heart to give back because everybody doesn’t."

Magnolia Middle School choir instructor Janet Sims is so happy to be able to be a part of this event. She is also excited to have her students participate and be a role in something so positive. Twin States News also spoke with one of the people getting the socks and he is Zach B’s grandfather.

JOE BALL JR: sock recipient says "Zach is a mighty fine grandson and I appreciated him . I appreciate him trying to help the elderly."

Zach B named this event. Footsteps and he tells why he chose that name and the meaning behind it. "I'm going to one day be in the footsteps of my grandfather, and the footsteps of my grandmother. She recently passed away in January, so I know she'll be proud of me that I'm doing this for a good cause."

Zach will deliver the donated socks to the Queen City nursing home during a special celebration this Sunday.
