Meridian Regional Airport is wrapping up a seven-day-long project. The airport closed last Monday for a week to repave the 8,000 ft. long runway. The last time the runway was repaved was twenty years ago and, it took 77 days to complete the job, but by shutting down the airport, the project took only a week to complete.

“The international guard was able to relocate their aircraft, the airline suspended airline surface for the late week, and we’ve been able to let him have the runway. I am absolutely convinced that that was the right answer. We got a better quality job because they were able to work from one end to the other without interruption. Can’t say enough about the dedication from the contractor and people that have been working on this job. They have been here with a good attitude with the goal of working together; working with everyone. It’s been a true team effort to get where we are and wrapping up to have the runway open up Tuesday morning, on time and on schedule.”- President of Meridian Regional Airport Authority
The repaving of the airport runway cost a total of $4.9 million.
