Miss Mississippi wins the title of Miss USA 2020

Miss Mississippi, Asya Branch wins the title of Miss USA 2020. The 22 year old, Asya Branch, from Booneville was awarded the title of Miss USA 2020 on Monday, November 9. She was crowned the title of Miss USA 2020 by Miss USA 2019 Chelsie Kryst. Making history, Branch is the first African American to be named Miss Mississippi, and is also the first Mississippi contestant to have won the title of Miss USA.

“I think that’s a great thing, shows a lot of positivity for the youths and that they can do things that they want to do. Anything is possible if they just continue to try and put that effort for the, and I just want to congratulate Ms. Asya for even winning and giving young black girls the opportunity to see that they can be more,” said Antonio Cole, believes Miss USA 2020 is setting a positive example for Mississippi children.

“I think its pretty big, that way she’ll draw more attention out here, people will be more curious about Mississippi. Me –as for being from New York, I don’t really see much from Mississippi, -- but now knowing that she won, it might draw some attention,” Wilson Lemus, said believes Miss USA 2020 will bring Mississippi positive attention.

As Miss USA 2020, Asya Branch, will represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2020 pageant.
