Today new updates from the Mississippi Department of Health, MDSH, show that there are now a total of 376,124 cases of the coronavirus statewide. In two days there have been over 4,000 new cases since MSDH announce the record-breaking single-day cases on Tuesday of this week.
In the East Mississippi area Anderson Regional, Neshoba General, and Rush Health System have all been keeping their social media sites updated with their current COVID numbers.

Due to surging cases, healthcare officials stated in an article from www. mississippitoday.org, that in other areas “Mississippi hospitals could fail within 5-10 days.”
CEO of Neshoba County General Hospital, Lee McCall, says that Neshoba General is at maximum capacity with scarce resources and staff to meet the COVID demand.
“We’re already at capacity. There are no ICU beds available. We’re all desperately seeking staff and trying to hold on to the staff we have. We’re out 30 staff or so due to COVID. We’re losing staff faster than we can get staff coming back, the surge is overwhelming"
In Lauderdale County reports showing that there have been a total of over 9,000 cases with 244 deaths.
Updates will continue to be provided as information becomes available.
