Mississippi Veterans may be eligible for Compensation

If you served in the Military between the years 1953-1987 and you lived near or on Camp Lejeune you and your family member may be eligible for compensation. A representative from a Mississippi Law Firm Richard Schwartz and Associates explains that Camp Lejeune's drinking and bathing water was highly contaminated.
"We take a very passionate approach to it because this affected so many people and not just service members, but the families, children, DOD, and civilians, we felt that we had a duty to step in to make sure that people were aware of this claims and to be able to help them receive the justice that they deserve," states Wooten.
Patrick Wooten says that the Government was aware of the contamination and the water was still used. It’s estimated that about a million people are suspected to have been exposed to the contaminated water which contained over 70 chemicals.
Wooten said," There's an entire list of Cancers that have already been determined to be pathologically related to the contaminants that were contained within the water. Bladder Cancer, Kidney Cancer, some skin rashes, birth defects in babies, and miscarriages."
The Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022 was signed by President Biden on August 10th which was to help compensate soldiers, family members, and DOD civilians who served at camp lejeune from 1953-1987.
"If anyone thinks it may apply to them, what they need to do is certainly reach out to a law firm because it's a weird kind of role. So you have a two-year window, a two-year statute of limitations, but you have to file a claim with the department of the navy first. So you file the administrative claim and you will have to prove you were at the base for 30 days and that's not 30 consecutive days," stated Wooten.
Wooten says that if it applies to a family member who has previously passed away from the injuries they could still possibly have a claim.
