Mother Nature flips switch to Cold Weather in Meridian.

jroby5

Meridian, MS - It’s just as the song says, “First you’re hot, then you’re cold,” and that is exactly the feeling some residents are having, following the sudden cold snap.

“Pretty surprising but then again not surprising, the weather all over the world has been crazy, crazy, crazy.” says Shirley Gaines.

“It’s about to be Christmas, winter is coming soon and it ain’t stopping.” says Aakeela Hubbard.

For Meridian Residents Shirley Gaines, and Aakeela Hubbard the change in temperature means stocking up on necessities, and being cautious of outdoor pets. “I want to stock up on all my can goods, and food goods, and any clothing that we need, and any kind of equipment like tapes, hammers, nails, I want to be prepared.” says Gaines. “I came out here to grab some hay for my babies, because it is getting cold outside so the animals are going to be impacted as well, so that’s out biggest thing is to keep our animals warm right now.” says Hubbard.

Animals aren’t the only thing the impending frost will impact, according to Al Davis of Al’s Garden and Gift, he encourages making sure garden vegetation is safe as well. “Any kind of tender vegetation; house plants and stuff, will definitely need to be brought in today.”

As mother nature is expected to bring changes to temperature, residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions to keep themselves, their plants, their pets, and everything they need safe from the incoming frost.
