The Mississippi Cares for nonprofits and Mississippi Cares for food grants are now open. The Community Foundation of East Mississippi will oversee $430,000 in Cares Act funding to award grants up to $4,000 to eligible grantees.
Eligible nonprofits may be reimbursed for eligible expenditures between March 1st, 2020 through December 30th, 2020.
“Many people are hurting during this pandemic, many have lost their jobs and it’s discussions with local nonprofits and food pantries--their numbers are up,” says Executive Director of the Community Foundation of East Mississippi Leigh Thomas. “They are having increased volume and increased need to serve the necessities of the population. It’s a federal grant money that comes to each state and coming through Mississippi and the Community Foundation is very happy to be helping to get that money to the nonprofits.”
Applications for a grant must be completed online by January 15, 2021. For more information, visit here.
