MSU-Meridian announces new Educational Psychology degree

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Mississippi State University Meridian campus announces the new Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Psychology.

The degree focuses on children’s learning needs, social need, emotional needs and more. Students in the program will learn how to support children through their development ups and downs and can provide a great support to schools, families and community organizations.

“At the moment, it is an undergraduate program that targets folks that are interested in the learning process, but not necessarily wanting to go into the classroom and be teachers,” Professor and Curriculum Coordinator of Educational Psychology Dr. Carlen Henington explains. “Often times, these individuals are support personnel within the schools and they may go on and get a degree at the graduate level and things like school psychology, which is most directly related to educational psychology. Those are individuals who may provide services and assist teachers.”

This degree holds 124 credit hours. Classes are offered both online and on campus.
