Mississippi State University-Meridian is preparing for students return to campus for the spring semester, the university postponed the start of the spring semester due to COVID-19 concerns.
MSU Meridian was initially scheduled to resume classes today, but the university made the decision to postpone the beginning of the spring semester, with classes now scheduled to resume on Monday, January 11.

During winter break MSU Meridian’s campuses were cleaned thoroughly , to prepared for students and staffs return.
MSU Meridian’s associate vice president and head of Campus, Terry Dale Cruse, stated that the university is promoting its “Cowbell Well Campaign”. The campaign encourages students and staff to follow advised guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on its campuses.
“We’re doing basically the same thing that we did in the fall semester. We know that wearing masks substantially decreases the spread of the virus. Many studies that have been done show that. We also know that providing adequate hand sanitizer, people washing their hands frequently, people doing their own wellness checks before they come to school in the daytime, and staying at home if they feel ill, that all those things have worked to slow the spread of the virus. So, we’re in our ‘Cowbell Well Campaign’ that encourages all of those different components,” said Dr. Terry Dale Cruse.
Dr. Cruse also shared that he was thankful students and staff were able to adjust well to the COVID-19 guidelines implemented in the fall semester.

“I am so proud of our faculty and staff and the adjustments that they made last spring, and then in the summer and in the fall. Fortunately we have been able to make it throughout the pandemic, without an interruption to our education process of our students. I am grateful, hopefully there’s an end in sight, that we will be able get back to a point where things are now moving toward normal,” said Dr. Cruse.
Mississippi State University has a COVID-19 website that updates students and staff members with information regarding the coronavirus.
