Meridian, MS - The Mississippi State University Riley Center in Meridian has announced a year-long line-up for its 2023-2024 season, spanning all genres, from classic rock, soulful jazz, to fierce and funky soul.
“We’ve been able to attract some really big-name artists coming through here, Bob Dylan, Smokey Robinson, are a few that have come through recently.” says Dr. Terry Dale Cruse
Associate Vice President, and head of MSU-Meridian Campus; Dr. Terry Dale Cruse is excited about the new season. “The season includes some acts that folks have seen her before but also some new acts. So, we’ll start with Jim Messina, and then we have Mary Chapin Capenter and Shawn Colvin, Lake Street Dive, which is not in the season, but an individual show, Patti Labelle, Preservation Hall Jazz Band is coming to do a Christmas concert, A Fleetwood Mac Tribute, Pat Matheny, Jumanne Smith who plays trumpet for Michael Bublé, The Commodores, and we’ll finish the season next July with Wayne Newton.”
So how does this affect the Meridian community? “Anytime we can have someone like the artist I mentioned before come in, it generates a buzz, not just across the state; but we sell tickets to multiple states surrounding here, so it puts us on the map so to speak, it puts Meridian on the map, and that’s part of what we’re here to do.”
The Riley Center says Season Subscriptions tickets are on sale now, and individual tickets for all shows will go on sale August 28th.
