NAS Meridian holds "Change of Command" Ceremony for New Commanding Officer.

Meridian, MS - The Naval Air Station in Meridian now has a new commanding officer. Music was played and many were out in attendance for the Naval Air Station in Meridian “change of command” ceremony, as former commanding officer Captain Timothy Moore handed the position to Captain Luke Davis. “It’s been a joy, it’s definitely bittersweet we will miss all the great relationships with the folks here on the base and in the community,” said Captain Timothy Moore.

“Captain Moore is an outstanding leader, and I’ve benefited from a month of sitting with him and getting to know what’s happening on base and where we’re going," said Captain Luke Davis.

Captain Moore has served as the commanding officer since August of 2020, and Captain Davis returns to Meridian 20 years since he received his wings. Both are very excited for their future holds. “I’ll go to U.S fleet forces command in Norfolk Virginia, and I’ll work leading assessment teams that will assess security at installations in the navy across the continent of the United States." said Captain Timothy Moore.

“The big thing I’m looking forward to is getting information on the plan for the replacement aircraft that could be coming our way by the end of the decade, so getting the base and its facilities ready to support that and working with everybody here throughout the community to make that happen." said Captain Luke Davis.

Captain Moore also says while he does not have a specific memory that stands out during his time at the base, he has enjoyed working with the entire team.

NAS Meridian wishes Captain Moore well on his future endeavors and looks forward to the command of Captain Davis.
