In Meridian, the Naval Air Station has welcomed its 26th commanding officer.

Captain Timothy Brent Moore will relieve Captain Brian S. Horstman, who has served as the commanding officer since June 2017. Captain Horstman will be retiring after 26 years of service to the U.S. Navy. Captain Moore is originally from Maryland and is coming to NAS Meridian from the United States Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk, Virginia.
“Captain Horstman clearly brought a dedication to being –kind of a friend to the people and you know, as far as being able to work hard on projects that mattered to the everyday folks, both here on base and here in the community. We’re very similar in that. In that, we like to remove barriers that are preventing people from performing at the best that they can,” said Capt. Timothy Moore, new commanding officer.
Due to Navy COVID restrictions, the change of command ceremony was limited to only 10 people at the ceremony, and aired virtually on NAS Meridian’s Facebook page.
