Beginning next week, Neshoba Central High School will switch to hybrid learning due to a number of students being quarantined under requirements by the Mississippi Department of Health.
The new hybrid schedule will begin August 31st. Students will be split into a red group and a blue group.
The red group, which is students last name beginning with A-K will attend on campus learning on Mondays and Wednesdays and do virtual learning Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The blue group, which last names begin with L-Z will attend on campus Tuesdays and Thursdays and virtual learning Mondays and Wednesdays. All students will be virtual on Fridays.
“Last week we had four cases which is very low among 987 high school students,” Superintendent Dr. Lundy Brantley explains. “We had 32 quarantines and we're having to quarantine people even with having a mask on. So what we’re doing is going hybrid so we can basically half our school each day and we can have six feet a distance in every classroom with every student. We can greatly reduce the amount of students we have to quarantine.”
The district is working with students who may not have access to internet connection or a device on hand.
