New Books For Lauderdal County Students

A local business decided to make brand new books available for the students in the Lauderdale County School District.

Reading is fundamental and an important part of a child’s development. The local Books-a-million here in meridian is making sure that each child has an opportunity to hold a brand-new book in their hands in which they hosted a book drive for the Lauderdale County School District.
“I am so excited to have these brand-new wonderful books for our students and for our teachers to use,” said Karen Williams LCSD Director of Curriculum.
The manager of Books-A-Million’s father was a teacher for the Lauderdale School District and says giving back to the schools has a special place in his heart
“So books a million is really big on giving back to our educators and I have a special reason because of my dad. stated Ernest Ross.
The book drive takes place every year giving customers the opportunity to help donate books to the school district.
“We did it for about 3 weeks and we collected a good many i don’t have the exact total, but it was about 6 big boxes full.”
Lauderdale county school district’s director of curriculum expresses her gratitude for receiving the new books for the schools
“it’s always very important to have books available for children and no matter what their background is and what they have or don’t have we want the ability to let children have brand new books in their hands.”
The students of The Lauderdale County School District now have brand new books to enjoy and read. According to Young Readers Foundations, reading allows children a deep understanding of various emotions, cognitive development, better vocabulary, creativity, develops concentration and more.
