From pastoring churches in New York, to Michigan to now Meridian, Mississippi-- Pastor Chris Yager wants to spread the word of the Lord everywhere he goes. The Yager family is excited about making the new transition.
“The Lord put back on my heart after ten years of pastoring an organized church to get back into church planning,” says Yager.
Living Hope Baptist Church will begin services this Sunday, October 4th at the MSU Riley Center in Meridian.
“From 10 to 10:30, we’ve opened the door of just time to get to know people--coffee, snacks--different things that we can have just to get to know people. 10:30 starts our worship service and then we have dinner right after. So anybody that comes to services, we have a dinner provided.”
The church will serve there until they purchase their own building.
“We’re scheduled for a year here, basically the end of September next year. We’re hoping in that time to be able to grow to a good number--to be able to purchase a building or renovate a building or even a store front to give us a little more permanency.”
Yager explains during the pandemic, worship is needed more than ever.
“In a time of fear, we need hope. When fear comes, it paralyzes us. It causes to worry, it causes stress, anxiety--it chops at our faith and worship reminds us that there’s a God bigger than even the pandemic.”
