New developments underway in Meridian

The City of Meridian is introducing some new businesses that are underway. A new Popeyes is now under construction on North Hills Street where the old Chicken Basket used to be as well as a new Burger King surfacing on the same street taking place at the old park location. The City is also working with the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation in constructing a new Assisted Living facility on Highway 39 North that will bring jobs to the city.

“We just want everyone to know that we will work hand and hand with anyone developing in our city,” says Director of Community Development Laura Carmichael. "Our goal in community development is to work with those who are wanting to improve and do great things in our city--issuing permits and doing things like that are very important and making sure zoning is correct.”

New home developments are also underway in the city. Carmichael says the new Popeyes and Burger King should be complete in early 2021.
