In Kemper County, East Mississippi Community College’s Scooba Campus is wrapping up construction on a new dorm, that is scheduled to begin housing students in January.

The new three-story residence hall, with one hundred forty-seven beds, is located across the street from the Dottie Smith Family Center for Instrumental Music Education on campus. A ribbon cutting was held for the new dorm on Thursday, December 10. Each floor of residence hall features two wings separated by a main lobby for a total of six wings, with keyless entry to each. Most of the dorm rooms will accommodate two students, and each room will be equipped with a bathroom.
