New movie theater underway at Uptown Meridian

The Golden Ticket Cinemas in Uptown Meridian is preparing to make their debut. The remodeled theater will include new reclined and sofa seats, as well as hot food delivered right to your seat during your movie.

“Right now we’ve done most of the cosmetic and necessary remodel within the auditoriums. Now we just have the lobby which is some carpet, some paint and setting up kitchen equipment," said Operations Director of Golden Ticket Cinemas, Joseph Horton. "We’ll have hot food--hot dogs, chicken tenders, pizza--that you can get delivered straight to your seat. Just order up at the concession stand, they’ll bring a table that fits right into your cup holder so you can watch the movie.”

On Tuesdays, the theater will have $5 tickets for movies. Popcorn and drinks will be only $2 each for small containers.

“The last time this studio was upgraded--well the way it looked was probably in the late 90’s or early 2000’s. They had standard seating, standard sound and standard concession fair," said Horton. "For us, we wanted to bring a more upscale theater to the market and we knew the people here in Meridian would be more than happy to come if we did so.”

The new theater is expected to open on December 18th. Horton says social distancing will be enforced throughout seating in the theater and tickets can be purchased online.
