New Temple Theater Walk of Fame Honorees

The Temple Theater inducted artists and members of the community into their walk of fame on Wednesday after nearly two years of not having the ceremony due to COVID.

Former Mayor of Meridian Percy Bland III

Nine artists and community members had the chance to make their mark in Meridian history to be seen forever, among those was the former mayor of Meridian Percy Bland III

“Well, I just I'm proud of a lot of the accomplishments we did as a team while in office and the people that supported me from the time, I became mayor. You know, that's what today was all about. You know, it was about, serving the people”, said Bland. “And I'm glad to be acknowledged today and honored for this. And of course, you know, the things that we did in our administration can never be ever taken from my team and myself.”

Community member Ken Rainey

The honorees included: George Cummings, Parker McKee, Bill Pippin, Ken Rainey, Pat Gray, Frank Evans, and Krik Messer. They all followed the tradition of imprinting their hands and signing their names on the concrete.

Country singer Emily White

Country singer Emily White was also honored, she says when she got the news of being inducted, she couldn’t say no.

“ I keep telling people after I found out I was going to be having these handprints, it's going to be here for my grandchildren and my mom and dad can come by and see it anytime they want to. And to be alongside so many wonderful musicians and artists that are local to Meridian. Scott McQuaig, Ken Rainey you've got Jackie Jack White, you got Todd Tilghman. And for them to ask me to come along to be inducted on this, this is a momentous occasion I, there are no words. I can't find the words. I, I'm honored as the biggest one. I'm so honored to be a part of this.”
