Newly appointed Meridian chief of police sworn in

A ceremony was held today to swear in the newly appointed chief of police, Chris Read. The ceremony was held this morning in the courtroom at the meridian police department.

Read was recently confirmed as police chief at a city council meeting on Tuesday, this week. Law enforcement officers from the surrounding area were present in support of his swearing in ceremony. As a veteran officer with MPD, Read is the first permanent chief of police with the Meridian Police Department since previous chief, Benny Dubose, retired in late January this year.
