Newly appointend interim chief of the Philadelphia Police Dept. to begin his term Jan. 1

In Neshoba County, following the recent announcement of the Philadelphia Police Department’s Police Chief, Julian Greer, retiring at the end of this month. An interim police chief has been selected to lead the department following Chief Greer’s departure from the department.
Lieutenant Eric Lyons will be acting as interim police chief with the Philadelphia Police Department beginning Friday, January 1, and was appointed to be police chief during the executive session of Board of Aldermen meeting. Lyons is a Philadelphia native, and has been working for the department for over a decade. He will serve as interim chief until the Board of Alderman appoint a full-time police chief.

“I do look forward to, in the upcoming weeks, -- look for ways to improve the department, get officers more training, and also look for new officers to help fill our vacant spots,” said Lt. Eric Lyons.
Lt. Lyons shared that he plans to apply for the full-time police chief position with the Philadelphia Police Department.
