Newton County School District announces it's next Superintendent

Decatur, MS - The Cougars of Newton County School District will have a new Superintendent next year.

The current Assistant Superintendent, Brooke Sibley, has been promoted to a new role.

In an exclusive interview, Miss Sibley told Twin States News how ready she is to get started.

“I am thrilled to be able to serve Newton County School District in this capacity. I am very thankful to the board for allowing me this opportunity.”

Miss Sibley has worked in Newton County School District for the last 11 years, and she mentions why this community is so important to her.

“I actually started teaching first grade in 2002, here at Newton County, and this is my home. So, I feel like the education piece here in Newton County is a way to bring the community together, and I’m looking forward to a great school year next year.”

As school districts across the country are starting to adopt a no-cell phone policy, Brooke Sibley explains if she plans to follow the trend.

“That is something that we will take a definite look at. However, we do feel very strong in the use of technology in the classroom to implement different learning strategies, and to move our students forward.”

Sibley starts her new position on July 1, 2024, and says she is ready to move mountains to make her school district the best in the state.
