Newton Elementary Shooting

A shooting occurred at Newton Elementary, the incident happened this afternoon.

The newton police chief confirms that it was an accidental shooting involving two students.

“We had a shooting here at the school today and we are trying to find out what all happened. This is still an active investigation and once we get details we will let you know exactly what happened.” Police Chief Randy Patrick

Authorities say the shot came from a child's backpack. The injured student was airlifted to Jackson. No other details have been released at this time. We will continue to follow this story and update you when more information becomes available.
