In Meridian, the Meridian Public-School District announcing that for the month of January, fans will not be able to attend home basketball games for middle and high school.
The decision was made due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 case numbers being at a high level. Although in-person spectators will not be allowed at the games, the basketball games will be live streamed online for free for fans to view at home.

“ The superintendent, the assistant superintendent, the building principal, and even the coaches was aware of it, because they know that as we go through the season, there are going to be certain districts that play only in front of fans, and its going to be certain that have limited capacity, and so once again, everybody understands the severity of it and the importance of trying to stay safe,” said Dr. Cheyenne Trussell, MPSD Athletic Director.
The Meridian Public-School District will make a decision at a later date regarding if they will allow fans at home basketball games in February.
