Meridian, MS - Northeast Elementary School has received a grant to help students with books.
The grant was awarded through Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s youth program in the amount of $3,500. The funds help with getting books for the school’s book vending machine, to help students improve their reading skills.
“A lot of our children don’t have books at home, they don’t have the stuff to read, and so giving them a book that theirs to keep, to take home with them, read it on the bus, read in their moms car or wherever they are, is a great step toward literacy for everybody.” says Librarian Angela Grace.
The school looks forward to using the grant to continue to fill the vending machine with books.
