We are in an age where entrepreneurship is seen more commonly but not all businesses thrive. Students at Northeast High learn what it takes to run their own business.

Northeast High School 2nd-year Business Students created storefronts as a way to learn what it takes to open up their own business. An Official from East Mississippi Bussiness Development Corporation stopped by to visit the students.
Casey Holliday The EMBDC Event Coordinator said, "They did an amazing job. I didn't know what to expect when I came in, but the thought and the design, and the quality that they put into it were amazing."
Each student created a floor and the type of business they wanted to create and made their vision of their storefront using a shoebox.
Teacher Keely Followay said, "My goal was that they would see that put it in perspective. Like, it's not just about what's inside the store, but also what's on the outside to bring customers in."
Keely followay the business marketing and finance students tells us the main thing she wants her students to take away about opening up a business.
"Whenever opening a store, a lot of them want to be entrepreneurs, but they have no idea the steps to take and how much it's going to cost. And so they think about where they were going to get the money from how much they would make to be successful in year one question like that."

The 2nd year business students enjoyed bringing their visions to life and telling us the main things they learned doing this project.
Student Madilyn Stevens said, "I learned that it takes a lot to run your own business
"It definitely takes a lot to be an entrepreneur, yes it showed me how business really works," Stated Brittany Chambers.
Christeriya Boyd said, "It helped me figure out how i kind of want to do my store in the future and how i want to prepare for it."
Holladay knows the importance of knowing the steps early for students wishing to be an entrepreneur.
"So being able to start even in high school to think about a couple of people raised their hands and said that, yes, this is something that I want to do. And so it gives them the steps that they need to be very well prepared."
