Meridian MS - Northeast Lauderdale Middle School cut the ribbon to display its new carousel horse. Showing off school pride, principal Deborah Porter is very excited about the horse. “It’s an awesome feeling and such a feeling of pride that the children had a chance to unveil it and had a chance to work on it. Cause it represents northeast middle in all aspects.”
There are 70 horses throughout the community. Kathy Parrish of Hope Village explains what those horses mean. “It’s a community art project called “Around Town Carousels Abound” which was started in 2000 by two ladies in our community as not only an art project but a community fundraiser for Hope Village for children."
Designed by students and artist Torion Emerson, northeast middle school’s horse is a true symbol of school spirit. “I’m happy for the success of the horse and every day that I ride by and drop my kids off, I’ll be able to see pretty much the design I have, as well as the kid’s inspiration for the horse.”
Northeast middle school is proud of its accomplishment to unveil the horse for the community to see.
