Northeast Middle School Veterans Day Celebration.

csims121

Meridian, MS - With Veteran’s Day being this weekend, the Trojans of Northeast Middle School decided to celebrate a few days early.

They served breakfast early this morning for local veterans, and after eating everybody walked the halls to admire the artwork display made by students and staff.

Professional Councilor, Casey Neese, Tells Twin States News the meaning behind this event.

“We provided breakfast, a Veterans walk-through, and a nice celebration at the end to give a tribute to our Veterans, and our community military members here at Northeast Middle School. To let them know how appreciative we are of their service to our country.”

Guest speaker and Veteran, Patrick Kirby, explains what his message was to the students.

“Just keep it simple, say thank you to the Veteran, you know. Because without that veteran we might not be in a free country as we are today.”

All of the students met in the Gym to learn about the history of the holiday, and to thank the veterans who showed up.

An eighth-grade student with veteran family members expressed her gratitude for them and anybody who has served.

“I appreciate him very much, and I also appreciate everyone else because they choose to put their life in danger every day for our country, and they don’t have to do that,” said Jayla Johnson.

Another student, Hailey Foreman, said she had fun at the ceremony and told twin states why she was impressed.

“I was just so like proud of my school for all of the enthusiasm that they put into the veterans,”
