At the rally, Lieutenant Jack spoke about investigation requests she submitted to the civil service commission regarding MPD, and a discrimination complaint she filed with the city. During the rally, her attorney, Joseph Denson, addressed the intent to terminate Jack was recently served, sharing that it stated his client accessed a software she wasn’t supposed to use, but said she had been given permission to use it from Interim Chief Charles Coleman. Attendees of the rally were able to ask questions regarding the grievances expressed.

“My client has a strong interest in making sure that the community knows that she has not breached any public trust, she has not breached any obligation that she has as a police officer,” said Joseph Denson, Esq.

Last week, the city released a statement saying they issued a letter of intent to terminate Lieutenant Rita Jack from her duties with MPD, detailing how long she had to respond before a decision was rendered, and that due to this being a personnel matter, there will be no further comments at this time.

Lt. Rita Jack and her attorney, Joseph Denson, are set to speak during citizens comments at the city council meeting on Tuesday, August 4.
