MISSISSIPPI (Twin States News) -In the race for Governor, incumbent Tate Reeves has cruised to victory in the GOP primary and will face Democrat Brandon Presley and Independent Gwendolyn Gray in the general election in November.
In the race for Lieutenant Governor of the state, Republican incumbent Delbert Hosemann is challenged by State Senator Chris McDaniel and Tiffany Longino, an educator. Hosemann won the nomination Tuesday -- fighting off a challenge from McDaniel. Hosemann winner takes on D. Ryan Grover of Hattiesburg, a Democrat, in November.
In other statewide races, incumbent Mike Chaney won the GOP primary for Insurance Commissioner, and Nelson Carr won the Public Service Commissioner GOP primary for the Southern district.
For the Democrats, Keith Jackson won in State House District 45. The GOP winners are Karl Oliver in District 46 and Jason White in District 48.
In the House, Stephen Horne won the GOP primary for District 81.
