Preparing your house and car for winter weather

csims121

Meridian, MS - Cold weather is right around the corner, and everyone should start to preparing their house for the winter season.

Gas technician with Sanders Gas, Air & Heat, Chris Sheffield, breaks down what people need to do before it gets too cold.

“Of course, your pipes need to be insulated and wrapped well. As far as your heating system goes, we need to come out and clean it or schedule maintenance. Cleaning the electric furnace, your gas furnace, if you’ve got gas logs you need to have those blown out, they get dust in them from just sitting idle. Make sure you’ve got plenty of propane in your tanks if you use gas for heat, and like I said get your units serviced and in make sure they’re in proper working order.”

Twin States News also asked a local auto shop owner how people need to get their vehicles ready for the cold.

“Start off by checking the anti-freeze, to see if it will go low enough for the freeze. Need to check the air pressure in the tires. Check all fluid levels, check your belts, your hoses. Check your tires and stuff to make sure everything is in working condition.”
