Business in downtown Meridian will be packed this weekend because of all the events taking place in the Queen City. Business owners and employees are excited and believe the events are going to bring a lot of attraction to their shops.

“I think that it will be a great turnout”, Indigo Child Salon employee, Madison Bilello. “Everyone has been talking about going to these new places and checking out these events, so I think there is only growth from this point in Meridian.”

The weekend is kicking off with the Soule Stem Fest being held at the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum. People can come out to the museum and witness America’s last intact steam engine factory.

A couple came all the way from Florida for the event:

“My husband has always been interested in stem engines”, said Leura Best. “He builds stem engines and plays with them. “So, we found out about the show and decided why not”

K.T. Pearson, a worker at the stem fest says that the big crowd is going to bring in a lot of money to the Queen City.

“This is such a wonderful weekend in Meridian, if you live here, you know that. We have people coming from all kinds of places. They’re coming and staying the night in a motel which is helping us out financially and they are excited to see it. Anybody that’s here for the weekend, please come see it, it’s a wonderful thing to see.”-K.T. Pearson
