The first nine weeks of the school year are coming to a close for the Quitman School District, and students will soon be taking their mid-semester exams.

This week, beginning on Thursday, October 1, all students following the hybrid schedule will be taking their mid-semester exams, with the first nine weeks coming to an end on October 7. Students following the hybrid schedule, half on A-days and half on B-days, will be given a scheduled day to take their exams on campus, and distance learners will also be scheduled a day to return to campus to take their exams.
QHS Principal, Tommy Molden, stated that he believes the students will do well on their exams, as they have adjusted well to the unique learning environment. “I think all of the students will do well, all of them will do well. I tell everybody the students are used to doing things socially, social media, the phones, the computers, virtually. I tell everybody –FaceTime. That’s just a way of life for students now. So, with that being said, you know, they’ll be fine,” said Tommy Molden, principal at Quitman High School.
He also shared that thanks to having the first 9-weeks to adjust to the new changes presented by COVID-19, Quitman High School will now know what to expect for the second half of the fall semester, when the district will no longer follow a hybrid schedule.
“We’ll be organized, I guarantee that, because of the things we learned in the first nine weeks, more organized as teachers and students. We’ll know what to expect, because of some of the things that we did in the first nine weeks. The first nine weeks wasn’t perfect, neither will the next nine weeks be perfect, but the things we learned in the first nine weeks, we don’t plan to repeat some of those things that we did,” said Molden.

All students in the Quitman School District, who plan to follow a traditional learning schedule, will return to on campus learning for the second 9-weeks on Monday, October 12, and those who plan to continue distance learning, will continue to learn virtually.
