Students and staff with the Quitman School District have officially returned back to school after fall break, and are prepared to take on the second 9-weeks of school.

Today, all students following the traditional learning schedule at Quitman Junior High School were initially scheduled to return to on-campus learning, but instead will continue to follow a hybrid schedule.
October 7, was initially scheduled to be the last day following the hybrid schedule, but to further mitigate the spread of COVID-19, students at Quitman Junior High School continue to attend school in groups, with Group A attending school on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Group B on Thursdays and Fridays, and all students participating in distance learning on Wednesdays.” “We’re very excited about starting our second 9 weeks on the hybrid schedule, we decided to continue that. Our class sizes are much smaller, they’re able to social distance better, and our students are getting much more interaction one-on-one with their teachers wile they’re here on campus,” said Kristen Schrimpshire, Assistant Principal at Quitman Junior High School.

Although students will continue to learn via the hybrid model, those who are struggling to adjust to the new learning format, will have the opportunity to receive additional help on Wednesdays, when other students are distance learning.
“We have some that are struggling a bit with the strictly virtual learning and we’ve opened up Wednesday’s beginning this week, for those students who need a little help with remediation, maybe coming to actual school, and getting some one-one-one, face to face with the classroom teacher,” said Bill Russell, Principal at Quitman Junior High School.
All students in the Quitman School District, who need remediation and will and will attend school on Wednesdays will have early dismissal. The early dismissal times associated with each school can be found listed on the district’s website.
