The Quitman School District has ordered 20 Kajeet Smartspots for their students from the Creating Learning Connections grant they received in August. These devices are wi-fi hotspots allowing students to connect to the internet anywhere they go to complete online schoolwork.
“It’s a small little device. You can charge it and you just look for the wifi network and hook up to it. We ordered twenty of them, we got the grant from First Book,” said Quitman School District Curriculum Coordinator Shelia Radcliffe. “It was the Creating Learning Connections grant and they gave us $4,000 to purchase these so our students could be able to learn at home for those that have no internet, don’t have the ability to have the internet.”
The school district also will receive 350 chromebooks for the lower elementary students from the grant, which will be delivered to them in November or December.
