Revitalization and Improvements to homes in Meridian.

jroby5

Meridian MS - The Meridian Housing Authority has been awarded more than 8 million dollars in federal money that will be used for urgently needed repairs to qualified housing.

The award was given by the us department of housing and urban development, and chairman Wilbert Jones calls it a great achievement. “We’re just very pleased because this is going to be an opportunity to enhance the lives of people that we serve.”

Areas on the list to be improved include Eastern Gardens, Western Gardens, and Oakland Heights Affordable Housing Communities.

Director of the Meridian Housing Authority Ronald Turner Sr. says the Highway Village Community will also benefit. “We’re doing everything that we can possibly do to bring and restore dignity and pride in that highway village community.”

He also explains when the community can expect these projects to be completed. “As we meet with architects and as we meet with engineers and as we meet with the board and the mayor and contractors, we are going to be able to give an expedited timeframe in terms of when we will be finishing up this project.”
