Marion, MS - As residents and commuters are already using detours to travel through the town of Marion, they will also need to be cautious of Road Paving projects over the next couple of days.
“So, over the next three days, we plan on paving Clinton Street, Koosa Drive, Panola Drive, and Conehatta Street,” says Mayor Larry Gill
Mayor Larry Gill emphasized the goal of these projects is to benefit the community. “The first ever paving project here in the town of Marion, where Marion is administering this project, we’re going to get a lot of asphalt laid, and we’re going to make the quality of life better for our citizens.”
The mayor also provided an update on the Dale Drive Bridge project. “The bridge itself is done, working on dirt work, and then we’re going to pave, and then the bridge will be open and ready for business.”
Speaking of business, Southern Accents Owner Jeanne Jones expressed the impact the bridge closure has had on business.“We still have lots of customers coming in, but it is affecting us, the sales are definitely down.”
Work crews are hard at work to complete this paving project, and according to Mayor Larry Gill, this project as well as the Dale Drive Bridge is on its way to get Marion back and open for business.
