ROADSIDE RESCUE NETWORK IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF MONEY,AND FOSTER HOMES IN ORDER TO HELP MORE ANIMALS

TODAY’S INFLATION IS AFFECTING WAY MORE THAN JUST GAS AND FOOD PRICES.

On a national average Inflation of VET services, has risen over 10% in just the last year alone. We speak with a local animal rescue organization that tells us how the funds that have been going out have impacted the number of animals that they're able to help.

JEAN CLAIRE BOUNDS WHO IS THE INTAKE COORDINATOR AND BUSINESS CONSULTANT FOR ROADSIDE RESCUE TELLS US THIS:

The cost of these animals affects the number of animals that we're able to rescue. Currently, we have over 100 dogs and cats within our foster networks. We've taken in over 300 in 2022 alone. However, the more we spend on these animals, the fewer animals we're able to rescue.

Bounds tells us that they partner with meridian shelters and pounds to ensure those animals whose time is running out have another chance at a better life. And this takes more money.

She says each animal requires us to spend a specific amount of money. And one thing that we will also do that a lot of rescues won't do is we will take an injured animal and heal it.

She tells us no dog is off limits. They have taken in animals who suffered from fractures by being hit by cars, open wounds, and need lifesaving treatment. Just to name a few.

Bounds says the number one cost for them right now is Veterinary Services. We take animals of all ages from birth to adulthood. She says they even have a hospice foster right now.

We also spoke with Molly Cosby who was a volunteer and foster home, and she tells us that they do as many in-house treatments as possible themselves. By doing this it saves them money, which would otherwise cost for veterinarians to do the same thing.

The two main things needed to ensure this rescue is well-equipped to continue saving animals are money and volunteer foster homes. If you'd like to contribute outside of those things, there are several ways you can help. You can go to Meridian's Petco and tell them you'd like to purchase a can of dog food for Roadside Rescue Network. They are also needing unwanted or used shoes so they can be used as toys for the animals. The last fundraiser they have going on right now is a t-shirt fund raiser that has a picture of their oldest pet FLOW. To find out more about each of these fundraisers, and instructions on how to help you can go to roadsidenetwork.org, or any social media account at ROADSIDE RESCUE NETWORK MISSISSIPPI.
