Meridian, MS - Ochsner Rush Health has partnered with Ross Collins to help get Allied health students ready to work at a younger age.

There is a gap in the health industry from high school to the workforce, and both parties are hoping this will bridge it.

The CEO of Ochsner Rush Health, Larkin Kennedy, explains why this partnership is so important to the health field.

“We need bright young students like these students this morning, more and more of them working in the health care field, and so Ochsner Rush is really focused on how we can help them grow and develop and identify opportunities and career paths for them.”

Not only does Ochsner Rush want these bright minds to work for them, but they also have plenty of clinics for them once they are ready to work.

“Ochsner Rush has seven hospitals within East Mississippi and West Alabama, about 25 clinics that we also operate, and so lots of opportunities for students and future workers in health care to partner with Ochsner Rush,” said Mr. Kennedy.

Michelle Hedgemon, tells Twin States News what her role is as their Health Science teacher.

“We try to make sure our students are ready to matriculate from classroom settings in high school as well as being ready and prepared to go to college.”

Twin States News also asked second-year allied health student, Ken’Niyah Fox, what she has been working on recently to prepare her for work in the health field.

“We’ve learned CPR, we are working on that right now. I am going to be CPR-certified by the end of the month. And we just learn about all the things you need to do, the safety, and all of the precautions you need to take working in health care.”
