In connection with the Meridian Public Schools, Ross Collins Career and Technical Center allows students the opportunity to explore various career options that interest them.
Due to the pandemic, Zoom Conference is becoming their best friend.
“Zoom or any type of software for meetings, certainly allows us to convey these concepts and teach,” says teacher Walter Littleton. “It’s making things a lot easier, all of my students are here and very engaged. They’re not just reading emails, they’re able to ask questions, see me and I’m able to demonstrate.”
The programs conduct different demonstrations in order for students to process the lessons given to them.

Teachers are determined to get their students where they need to be.
“Our teachers have rolled their sleeves up and really put forth a great effort getting our students enrolled in several different learning platforms,” Career Technical Educational Director Rob Smith explains. "If anything, it has shown improvement to me that teachers face such a big challenge. They have risen to it and the bottom line is they care for students.”
As for students, teachers say they are adapting to the new system relatively well.
The Ross Collins Career and Technical Center has twelve different programs students can choose from.
