Meridian, MS - All aboard, it’s the Polar Express. Ross Collins Career and Technical Center welcomed elementary students in the Meridian Public School District for their third annual “The Polar Express” Week.

“We wanted to create an experience for them, where they can come and just engage with our students. They’ll have cookies and coco with Santa, they’ll have a photo opportunity, they can play games, they have the opportunity to make a train craft, and they also can listen to “The Polar Express” being read to them,” says Dena Patterson.

According to Educator Prep Instructor, Dena Patterson, the event is not only fun for the kids but is also an educational experience for her students as well. “This gives them leadership skills, experience in time management, transitioning, and just managing the classroom in general.”

As for Educator Rising Student President, Char’Tayvious Edwards, he gets joy from seeing all the kids excited and enjoying the festivities. “It’s really exciting getting that joy from them and trying for the hands-on experience and giving the Joy back.”

Meridian Public School District elementary students, and students of Ross Collins Career and Technical Education Center are enjoying their ride on "The Polar Express" this holiday season.
