Rush Health Systems and PHI Air Medical have partnered up to offer new medical transport services to the region with the addition of a new EC-135 rotary wing aircraft.
The ribbon cut ceremony was held yesterday at Rush Health Systems. The aircraft will be located in Meridian and respond to East Mississippi and West Alabama, including Rush’s network of seven hospitals.
The helicopter will be in operation by specially trained flight nurses, paramedics and clinical staff, as well as maintenance.
“We’re always looking for ways to innovate and extend our region and it was just a natural partnership for us to join with them to help provide that improved access to basic care,” says President and CEO of Rush Health Systems Larkin Kennedy. “We can transport them from our 5 critical access hospitals throughout the regions to Rush, we can transfer them to Rush to a higher level of care that may be needed within a 150 mile radius.”
This year’s winner of The Voice, Todd Tilghman sang to close the event.
