To assist with local school districts’ COVID-19 response, Rush Health Systems is donating 40,000 adult and children reusable cloth face masks to over 15 school districts, including Meridian Public School District.
Today, they made a stop at the Lauderdale County School District delivering 7,000 masks for students and teachers. The two-ply masks are 100% cotton and are safe for machine washing and drying.
“Actually, Rush Hospital and Cheri Barry reached out to our school district wanting to help,” says Assistant Human Resources Director Dr. DeShannon Davis. ”So she and I got together and we decided that a mask drive would be something that we would be interested in doing. So she spearheaded everything and Rush Hospital was gracious enough to donate a mask for all of our students and teachers in the district. The students will really enjoy having a fresh pack of masks and anything we can do to help keep our students safe, we are going to try and do.”
The district hopes to have the masks to the schools by tomorrow and have them distributed by next week.
