Sarah Dearman of Spirit Halloween says sells have increased over the course of the pandemic right in time for the trick or treat holiday.
“We come in around August and we go through the very first of November. Sells this year have been great. I think people have gotten tired of being in the house--they’re ready to get out and do something and Halloween is the perfect time for that.”
Halloween in Meridian will look slightly different this year. The hours for trick or treating will be 4PM to 8PM on October 31st. In addition the city is hosting a few events leading up to the holiday.

“Kids are excited about the Candy Crawls going around that Meridian has downtown, adults are having small parties around Meridian so everyone’s so excited that they’re able to do something. Everyone loves to dress up.”
The store has similar guidelines in place as any other business right now--that includes wearing a mask and social distancing.
“We have distancing markers in the store--they’re marked 6 foot a piece and we are cleaning and sanitizing every three hours.”
Dearman believes they’ll see even more sells since this is the last week before Halloween.
“If they’re like me they’re going to do last minute shopping and they are going to rush in here and we’ll be ready for them.”
