Salvation Army in Meridian kicks off Red Kettle Campaign

jroby5

Meridian, MS - The season of giving is upon us, as the Salvation Army in Meridian has officially kicked off its Red Kettle Campaign.

“This is our largest fundraiser for the year. This is to help sustain us through the year, in order to be able to provide the support to the community that they need for those that are less fortunate. Time is going fast, it’s hard to believe we’re at Thanksgiving time and at Christmas time, and the days go faster, and it’s like we blink our eyes and it’s gone.”

The Red Kettle campaign has been around for over 121 years in Meridian, and this year will be a little different. “What we’re doing this year is going digital with our empty stocking fund, as well as our tip-tap.”

Mississippi Native and Miss Volunteer America Hannah Perrigin expressed her excitement to help kick off the campaign. “One of my volunteer efforts was with the Salvation Army back in 2020, and so to be here and see the impact that it has had over the years is something that you just cannot put a price on.”

As the Salvation Army is kicking off its Red Kettle Campaign, there are ways for people in the community to give, either with cash or with a card.
