The Salvation Army is teaming up with Walmart to collect school supplies for students in Meridian, Newton and Philadelphia on their Stuff the Bus campaign.
This event will begin today and last until Sunday, August 9th.
When shoppers visit Walmart, they can purchase supplies and simply drop them in the collection bins at the front of each store.
“This happens once a year with Walmart and this is a nationwide event,” says Salvation Army Meridian Lieutenant Tamara Robb. “We realize that some parents have lost their jobs or have reduced hours, so they do not have the money they would normally have for school supplies. So we are providing this opportunity. If you didn’t get a chance to donate earlier in the year, now you can donate.”
If donors do not want to go into Walmart, they can go to an online registry to purchase items.
