Senate District 32 Election

The special election runoff for Senate seat District 32 is today. Candidate’s Rod Hickman and Minh Duong are facing off to see who will secure the seat. Voting ends today at 7 P.M. Twin States News visited a voting precinct to track voter turnout.

Here at the Meridian Little Theater several voters have already showed up to cast their vote for Senate District 32. Many of them stated that they made sure to come out to exercise that right.
“It’s the American way, that’s why we choose our leaders and that’s what we're here to help “said voter Bobby Adams.
Rod Hickman and Minh Duong were the two candidates left in the race after neither were able to get majority vote. Today one of them will win and become Senate for District 32
“I am voting for Dr. Duong today because I like his values, his family values and the way that he understands business here in Meridian”, stated voter Emily Thompson. “He’s a small business owner himself and works very hard and I appreciate that and like that he has that at the forefront of his mind.”
“I wanted to be a part of the Democratic process. I have someone that I appreciate, and I think he is going to do a great job for this particular campaign, “said Terry Stennis. “Rod Hickman and I’m voting for him today for Senate District 32”
Voting officials say they have seen a great turnout so far and expect it to continue throughout the day.
“I think people are turning out because they want to support their candidates. The candidate that they believe in, so we’ve had a good, steady turnout”- Sue Warner, Election Official
